Finding Relevant and Rewarding Professional Development

Although, I do my very best to learn something at each opportunity, I often struggle to find relevant and rewarding PD.  Sometimes this means seeking a variety of sources for finding what I am looking for.  If you are in this boat, here are a few of my suggestions.

1)  (A plug for the class I am taking)  Refocus and Recharge - through Learner's Edge.  This class is customizable for you and your situation.  It really helps you ponder what you do, why you do what you do and ways you can improve.

2) Check into organizations of which you belong.  For me, Wisconsin School Counselor Association provides several opportunities listed in their newsletters.  Also, the organizations page on Facebook allows members to post professional growth opportunities that they have found useful or will be participating in.

3)  Colleagues!  Ask around.  As with book recommendations, we never seem to run out of suggestions of great things we have tried.
